I have a HP Pavilion DV9420US with Windows XP Professional SP2.
Every time I close down Windows, I lose some of my settings like the
settings for my speakers. I use two external speakers hooked up to a
docking station. The Laptop uses “Conexant HD Audio output and the
station uses C-Media USB Sound device. Both work like they are suppose
to but when the Laptop is connected to the docking station is uses the
USB one. I change it in Control Panel but it changes back after I re-
Boot. Also, Taskbar settings keep changing. I customize the “Current
Items†to “Always Hide†certain items but they also revert back to
“Hide when inactiveâ€. Another thing, the settings I use in Windows
Explorer (I’m set to Windows Classic) is usually “detail†but it reverts
To “Iconsâ€. I know these are not a big deal but I didn’t have these problems
with Windows 2000. I must be missing some setup procedure that will
save my settings when Windows shuts down. Please give me some advice.
