I have just installed XP Pro 2003, and the installation
went fine except now Media Player gives an error message
saying there is no audio hardware or it isn't responding.
Any ideas? I have tried doing a scan for new hardware but
it doesn't find it. The soundcard I have isn't anything
special , just the standard onboard one that came with
the computer, new 3 yrs ago.

You need to go to the website for your motherboard and look for the proper
XP driver.

Try moving it to the slot furthest away from the AGP slot and ensure that
your BIOS settings for Plug and Play Aware O/S are set to NO or DISABLED.

Cari,

You did read SH's post. They said the sound card is on-board, so it is not
a PCI card but built-in to the motherboard.

SH will need to download the correct XP drivers for the sound card. Head
over to the motherbaord manufacturer's web site and look for the drivers.
