XP NO SEE INTERNET NEED HELPS

Nick

Cannot get onto the internet............tried to release,
renew..........using comcast cable as
the isp...........nic is working modem is working(pinged
to verify}......either it is defaulting
to microsofts ip (it was at one time) nothing has changed
to make this "problem" appear

Any help is greatly appreciated and if you need more info
just ask

1) Try a different network cable.
2) Try uninstalling/reinstalling TCP/IP.
3) Try a different network card.
 
well now we get a correct ip address but cannot get on the
internet.........good thing i dont get frustrated
easily !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all things are working now but still cant see the
internet connected router and router is seeing dhcp
server and is giving comp a ip address but still cannot
see the internet or ie cannot get explorrer to connect
to it............
