Hello all,

I keep getting the following message: "There is an IP address conflict
with another system on the network" from my home network.

This message occurs with only one computer connected and the wireless
feature disabled. There are many posts on the net about this symtom
but none like mine.

Any suggestions that can help me?

Modem:Westell Wirespeed
Router: Linksys WRT54G Ver 2
OS: WinXP SP2

Thanks,

bt

Is your Wireless Network asigned to get Automatic IPs from the Router or
asigned Static Ips addresses.
If it is Automatic Renew IP, then may be one of the machine still holding
the IP and not releasing it.
Try Run ipconfig /all on the other machines and see which identical and
release it IP address.
Do you have a security WEP/WPA asigned with Key encryption?.

Thanks nass,

I have only one computer hard wired to the router. Wireles acceess is
disabled. Running ipconfig /all shows no conflicting address. I am
set to Automatic. Security is/was set to WEP. I tried making the
connection ''únsecure'' so that no key is required.
(This may be the most important thing! It is a borrowed router but I
do have the password etc to access it.)

I will be moving on if it does not work in another three hours or so.
Back to the owner and get my own.

Thanks for your time and expertise.
