I cannot get my new XP machine to see the other computers
in the workgroup. I have run network wizard and changed
computer ID and workgroup name, but still cannot see
other pc on network.
On my WIN98 machine I need a password, does this cause a
problem with XP if so How do I give it a workgroup
password as User password only affects the XP Machine.
HELP!!
..

I have been offered help by running setup disk created
when running setup wizard, does this apply to Win2000 and
WinME computers also.

1. can't see others: can you ping them?
2. wizard: try setup manually
3. win98 password: quoted from http://www.ChicagoTech.net

Resource: \\computername\IPC$ - An extended error has occurred
Symptoms: When you attempt to connect to w2k/xp computer over the network,
you may receive one of the following error messages: "You must supply a
password to make this connection: Resource: \\computername\IPC$" -or-
"computername An extended error has occurred"
Resolutions: 1. make sure netlogon service is running.
2. Make sure you have created logon ID and password for remote computer
logon.
3. Or enable guest account.
