I have a win2k server set up as a domian controller. the
domain is called dzone.local. I used to be able to access
it fine from my other 2 XP machines unitl I had a hard
drive crash and removed one of the XP machines from the
domain and maade it part of a work group called Dzone. Now
that the server is back up I would like to rejoin the
domain but can't I get a message that "the reource is no
longer available" I can see, ping etc the server no
problem. Aslo from the server I can access any share on
the XP box, I cannot, however, acccess any share on the
server from the XP station. I have tried renaming, giving
it a different IP cleaning up the directory service
account info all to no avail.
One strange point. On the XP box I have noticed that what
ever I rename my computer to system still reports the
computer name as the original name.dzone.local as if it
were still part of the the doamin although it definitely
says it is in a workgroup and when using the computer
browser it shows up in a workgroup.

Help!!!!!

Try this: My Network Places|Properties (brings up Network
Connections). Right click on the connection in question.
Status|Support|Repair. This should renew all addresses
and names. It may fix your problem; It can't hurt anything.

Didn't work. Also didn't mention it before. I have all my systems connected
to a barricade router top access the internet. MY Ip address are static
although I have attempted DHCP to see if it changed anything. Got an IP
address oK (fromthe same server that I can't join the domain)
Also this computer is having some serious browsing problems. On almost
every page and certainley after viewing one or two pages at a location it
will no longer download anymore from that site. Try downloading a file and
I get a few mb and no more ever!!! even refreshing and closing IE and re-
starting and returning to the page doesn't help. I downloaded HiDownload
and see that after the first few mb my connection always closes when
downloading a file. I was somewhat wrong in my original discription after
re-naming the computer sees itself as newname.dzone.local although now part
of a workgroup called home. I can however access it (ping) from otehr 2
machines by either orginal name or new name. Could this be a problem with
the name cache? It seems to me I remember that there is a way to clear name
caches but don't remember what it was.

Still help!!!!
