What is the work around to this msg, "You do not have permission to use this
network resource."

Both computers have XP Home, NetBios enabled, and shared resources. Very
frustrated with this XP networking crap. Help appreciated.

Unlike win 9x XP is an operating system with security. as
such you have to enter yourself as a user with the same
password you are using on your machine on the remote
machine. now once you log on to the network the remote
machine should recoignize you as an authorized user

Ok,
If i am understanding the problem correctly, when you
browse the network you can see the resource, but when you
try to open it you get your error.
If this is the case you must
go to Folder Options in Control Panel, in the View tab
uncheck 'Use Simple File Sharing' (Bottom of list)
go to the computer where the resource is located and
navigate to it, then click RMB on it and select sharing
and security. make sure that in the sharing tab the
resource is shared and in the security tab the user that
you log onto the other computer is present and is allowed
access.
