Hi,
I have an annoying problem. If I leave my PC on for over 24/hours, even
using it during those 24/hours, after the 24/hours when I move the mouse to
turn-off the screensaver, I will get the 'Welcome Screen', I log on with my
password....then it gets strange, I HAVE the desktop wallpaper, and the
mouse cursor (which moves, NOT frozen), but the Taskbar, Systray, and ALL
Icons are gone!! I have XPPro-Service Pack1, a Dell 4600 2.4GigHz, with
1GigRAM...the screensaver I've been using is '3-D Text' (the rotating
clock)...Power Saving Options are all configured to NEVER......whats going
on....thank-you in advance-al

Sorry, no answer here but...

I have the same problem (no taskbar, icons, etc), only the
wallpaper remains. This 'usually-randomly' happens after
clicking on a directory in the Windows Explorer. I NEVER
know when it's coming: Explorer will 'Stop Responding' and
as soon as I click 'Close'... poof... desktop is gone! If I
happened to have Task Manager running, I'll try to End-Task
the Explorer but it won't close (or restart); sometimes, I
can start a new 'Run Explorer', and I'll get the icons back,
but they won't respond to mouse clicks or Enter. It's like
I'm on the other side of a sheet of glass.

For a while longer, a can switch running programs using
Alt-Tab, and actually continue to use them, but as soon as I
try to save a file, it's locked out. Slowly, all the
programs fizzle and die and it's reset button time. Been
baffled for the last 4 months.

I have FAT32 on C-drive, NTFS the all others. Yours is the
first clue that I'm not the only one...!

Anyone else? Maybe some weird bug in Explorer?
Virus free here, BTW...

Thanks
