Does anyone here have XP Media Centre?

I have got it installed on my laptop along with an internal TV card.
I really like the software when watching live TV and the options I get on it to record program. I even get a series link button and the program guide, which tells me the intense details of each channel's program is brilliant.

I was wondering if I could get this Media Centre Installed on my desktop?
It is running windows xp pro. I got a Hauppage TV card and I really want Media Centre to watch/record programs.

Is it possible to install XP Media Centre then?

Yes Admin that is what I mean

I wish to install Media Centre on my version of Windows XP Pro.

Thanks for those links I will look at them and see how good they are.
I am specifically looking for an application that is better than my current Win TV one.

i used to use Nero Home but it doesnt like some video formats or my remote so i installed media portal the other day and so far i'm impressed, the games are a nice touch and you can map your remote and set the sensitivity which i'm still working on but its def worth a try :thumb:

does nero home work with TV cards?

so that i can watch/record/pause live tv

it works with my one fine, it's pretty good it just doesn't work with my hauppauge remote properly or with divx files

what is the program guide like?

also have u used media centre before

ill look this up cheers

it doesn't have program guides, i only really used it to watch TV or films in my collection

media portal has tv guides but i have yet to get it working

oh right im lookin for a program that does have tv card access within it
and a good program quide along with good gui

got it installed mate

good news is that it picked up my tv card and also picked up the channels I couldnt get on my win tv application
namely ivt4 , bbc3 and bbc4.

bad news is the signal seems to be a bit choppy, it seems to be a slower application than Win TV and no program guide like Windows Media Centre has.

But thanks for the tip off, I will play around with it tomorrow. Also look into other software that has program guides within the software.
