Does anyone know how to stop windows login screen from
reporting that there is 82 email messages in waiting on
me but in reality there is NONE? I have rebooted and
still the problem persists. HELP

Hi

You can download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail can be disabled via the Registry - navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress],
double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change the
value to 0(Zero).

***If you do opt for the Registry please 'tweak', please backup the Registry
first. A good program to do this - as well as being able to restore it - is

Is there anyway to just clear the report so it reports
correctlY?

With Tweak UI you can do as Will said to clear the Unread Mail notification
from the logon screen, then go to "Repair" and choose "Repair Unread Mail"
from the dropdown and click "Repair Now", then go back and check "Show Unread
Mail on Welcome Screen" and set the number of days. Whether this pevents the
false notification from re-appearing I've yet to find out
