when i log onto windows XP. I get a sound like you can't
perform the action. and it takes about one minute to get
to my main screen. then a box comes up and says Windows
cannot find file "copy" make sure you typed the file name
correctly.

i went into msconfig and disabled everything. then tried
it by disabling things one at a time. didnt do it the
next time. so i turned the computer off went to bed got
up and it did it again.

not only did it do that then win XP wouldnt load and kept
freezing on the checking IDE drives part. i got a msg
saying windows cannot find a root file. i went into BIOS
and loaded defaults and then windows loaded only to get
the cannot find copy file again

what is "copy" where is it? and why even after windows
restore does this keep coming up?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Mike

Greetings

1. Open Regedit by going to Start>>Run and then typing regedit.

2. Then do a find for "winshow" When any key is found, delete it by
pressing the delete key. Be sure to hit the F3 (Find Next) key after
each. There are about 10 or so that need to be find. Regedit will say
"Finished Searching" when complete.

3. Repeat the same step above, but this time search for "winlink"

4. After that is done, close regedit.

5. You will then have to search for the the .dll files stored on the
harddrive. Go to search for files at c: Then search for "winshow" and
"winlink" Delete any files that you find. (Im my case I did not find
any files named winlink)

6. Restart the computer
