XP loads slow on win2k domain

On a network w/ XP clients and a 2k server, it takes
about 3 mintues to load the computer after logging onto
the network.

If I make a DNS entry in the network connections and use
the same IP address as the server, it logs in right
away. But then, my Internet doesn't work. I can also
add two DNS entries from my ISP, along w/ the IP address
of the server and it will log in quickly, but then my
internet will stop connecting at random w/ all users.

If I log in w/ a 98 or 2k wkstn, it logs into quickly.
I've seen this on many networks. What gives? Thanks -PC

Hi,

You need to configure your DNS server to forward to your ISP. This way your
clients can point to the internal DNS server and still resolve external
names.

Assuming your internal DNS server is Windows 2000, see 300202 HOW TO:
Configure DNS for Internet Access in Windows 2000
