I am using my HP laptop hooked to my network because my
desktop computer got fried (a squirrel caused a
transformer to blow and the resulting surge and blackout
fried my hard drive and power supply). The laptop worked
fine Saturday night and Sunday, but now, after 5 or ten
minutes online, it just turns itself off. I have to
reboot, and of course, if I am in the middle of composing
something, I have to start over. This just started last
night, Tuesday night, after working fine from Saturday
night til then. Windows Update stuff came up Sunday and I
took the recommended ones, but that was Sunday and this
started happening on Tuesday, so I don't think that could
have been it. Any ideas? Laptop was bought new in June
2003.
Thanks.

sounds like the virus that was going around - i forgot the name of it, but
