Hi,
mw office has a workgroup running on a win2000 workgroup. My boss got a dell
laptop(win XP Pro SP2) to the office and has problems joining the local
workgroup. I managed to configured the machine so it can use the internet
from the router(DLink DI714P+) but aht my boss needs is to access the files
on the NAS(Buffalo Linkstation250). By the way, if i turn on the wifi radio
on the laptop, it will jammed up the entire noetwork, so i'm using a cable
that i'm sharing with another desktop to temporaily resolve this issue.
Here's my office network setup;
4 win2000 desktops(LAN)
2 win2000 laptops(wifi)
1 NAS(LAN)
1 network printer(LAN)
1 Dell Laptop(win XP) NEW!!!
NO Domain, just a workgroup

You need to set the laptop's workgroup name, and you need to be logging in to the laptop using
a username and password combination that is registered on the LinkStation.

If you cannot browse the shares on the NAS box, that may be a separate problem. Try mapping
a share on the NAS specifically by name using Explorer's map-a-drive-letter: \\nasname\share and
see if that works.

Thank you, i have done as per your guide, but something else that happens is
that when the dell laptop's wifi radio is turn on, the whole network is
jammed or inaccessible, one of my friend told me it could be the issue of
intel pro wifi chip 11b/g standard that the laptop is using when the router
is only providing a 11b network. Is this true? Thank you very much.
