I was hoping to connect an XP laptop to our Windows Advanced Server and was
wondering if there were any direct articles which I may be able to view in
order to help me through this simple (hopefully) process.

Thanking you in advance.

This is a straightforward process. To avoid interfering
with system settings, you should ask your network
administrator to assist you.

We don't have one. That's why I was asking...

Running your own server without assistance from a
suitably trained person is like driving a big truck while
having only a car driving licence. Sooner or later you
will have a disaster. It's a business decision: Is it more
cost-effective to pay for someone's training or to foot
the cost for recovering from the disaster (which could
involve loss of all company data)? Have a look at the
post "2000 Server Data Recovery" posted in this
newsgroup exactly one day ago, to see what I mean.

Your original question was for articles on how to go
about this sort of thing. I googled for this:

tutorial "how to set up a network"

and got almost 250 hits. I suggest you try some of them.
You could also try www.jsiinc.com - there is a wealth
of information there. Good luck!
