Windows XP XP Keeps Restarting

Help!

Hi,

Im repairing a friend's computer, just formatted it and reinstalled Xp, i get into the operating system and then it restarts then it will get to the loading screen and keep rebooting, i can get into safe mode works fine, then i can get back into xp but same happens again
 
Sounds like a hard ware problem. Try checking out your memory amd hdd with testing software. But first make sure everything is eated and installed right, make sure cables are fully seated etc etc.

Is this a perfectly fresh install (that completed successfully)?

It's good news that at least safe mode works ok, as it means you can run a few test from there. First of all, can you check the event logs to see what is causing your PC to restart?

Also, disable automatic restart using these instructions : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/russel_02may13.mspx

Then, when it crashes it will show you the full problem so you can let us know what it says (with the error code, if there is one).
