Dear All,
I currently have a Gigabyte GASINXP-1394 motherboard
with integrated intel 8254oem gigabit nic and winxp..i
booted my pc up yesterday to find no nic presently
installed and windows didnt want to detect it, or allow me
to install it, as when i used drivers from cd, installed
but then disabled device with such codes as (code10),
(code22) and (code18)..i spent many frustrating hours in
front of it, trying to coax it to work with no luck. It
has done this to me before..once..and i managed to get it
working again..but this time no luck..

Has anyone got an idea?? as its either windows playing up
or a hardware fault...

Help is appreciated in advance....

Try doing a system restore or failing that uninstall drivers/device and
reinstall. As a final attempt you could do a repair install

David,
I have tried system restore to the previous day when i
know i had a working system, but no joy there...also tried
multiple uninstall/reinstall device using correct drivers
and still no joy..

I may bite the bullet and just re-install windows xp over
itself as a last resort..or may just dig out an old intel
100 pro card i have lying around and install that to see
if i can get it going that way...

regards
Jamie

Hi, Jamie.

You probably already know this, but just in case...

If you do decide to "just re-install windows xp over itself", the
instructions are here:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q315341

And don't forget to visit Windows Update as soon as you get your firewall
and antivirus working again and get back online. The fix that protects you
from the Blaster worm is one of many available.
