I am running XP SP2. I leave my office computer on when I leave at night.
When I come in to the office in the morning, all of my programs are shut down
and I am at the log in prompt. This does not happen to me during the work
day even if I am away from my computer for an extended period of time.
Hibernation is turned off and all of my power settings are set to always on.
Can anyone tell me why this is occuring?

Are you part of a domain? Does the system admin regulate the log on hours
via active directory?
We do, and log off most computers at 8pm and allow them access logon at 6am.

Check the settings for the Always On power scheme. There may be a default
time limit for standby. I may be remembering incorrectly but have a vague
recollection of manually changing that to "Never." The system is not
hibernating or it would be off entirely and not waiting with the login
prompt.

Another consideration, if on a company network, your settings may be
overridden for maintenance routines set by the network administrator
(updates or backups that require a forced logged off, for example).
Related: If using XP Pro, check local policy for settings regarding
automatic log off conditions.

Power management settings in BIOS shouldn't override operating system
preferences but may be worth checking out as well.

Check the logs to see what time your machine is rebooting? This might be lame
but also see what time the maintenanc staff comes into your office to clean
up? This has happened to someone I know. The staff used the computer outlet
to plug in the vacuum cleaner.

On a more technical note - There might be a GPO policy that logs users out
of machines when the login time is past due. Check your GPO settings as well
as your user account in the AD.
