xp installation

when installing xp on my pc i cant seem to get past the step when you have to
enter the product. I enter the product key that came with the operating
system but it keeps teeling me that this is invalid can anyone help me???

Make sure that you have typed in the **exact** PK code.

You may have typed it in wrong. Product keys are case sensitive. You also
need to be particularly careful with zero's. You may be clicking the O on
the keyboard when you should be typing an 0 from the number pad. Another one
to look for is 8 which can sometimes look like a B.
If you are typing the number in correctly and it still refuses to budge then
take the software back to the shop and ask them to check it.

When did the Windows XP product key become case sensitive? heh
 
Remember not to include any "-"s. Most of the time the problem is
misreading one of the characters. "B" for "8" or some such.
