XP installation question

I installed Windows XP Pro on an older computer of mine that previously had
Windows Me. I could of sworn I selected the option to wipe out everything.
Instead, I now have XP on this computer but with my older files. Do you
think there's two seperate partitions on this computer? I have a 9GB
hardrive but only 2GB are free after I installed XP. I basically want to
free the other 7GB but don't know how. Any suggestions?

Run through it again, ensuring that you definitely delete the partition..

When I go to delete my existing partition, it says "Setup is unable to
perform the requested operation on the selected partition. This partition
contains temporary Setup files that are required to complete installation"

Any ideas?

Yeah, download the floppy utility from the manufacturer of your hard
drive and use it to wipe and partition the drive instead of the XP CD.
The quick format should suffice. Then go into your BIOS, set it to boot
from the CDROM first. Stick the XP CD in and save and exit from your
BIOS. Hit any key when it asks.

You're trying to run Setup from within Windows? That's the wrong way to do a
clean installation.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:
