I recently purchased a 'new' PC system from ebay, which
came preloaded with Windows XP Professional. However, I
was having a few minor problems, and also wanted to
customize and register it in my name. So I installed my
copy of Windows XP Professional and selected installation,
hoping that this would simply install over the existing
XP, and if that wasn't possible, would simply give an
error message.
The installation started okay, but after the first
restart, an error message appeared and asked me to
restart. Now, whenever I restart, it defaults into XP
setup mode and then the error message appears again. I
can still reach XP through manually selecting it over the
setup option, but this is obviously not ideal.
Is there anyway which I can reinstall XP, or will I have
to format my Hard Drive and start with a clean
installation?
Also, if I do reformat, are there any hidden dangers? I
have all of my necessary drivers, but don't seem to have
any drivers for my hard disc.
Any help greatly appreciated.
