I am trying to upgrade from 2000 pro to xp pro. I get to the point in the
install when it restarts the computer the first time. I see the windows load
up screen but then my computer goes to a black screen. I have removed the
hardware that is not needed, I have updated my BIOS, I have run the windows
check within the install to see if my computer is up to the task. I have
run diagnostics on my ram and hardrive with neither finding errors. I have
removed AV protection completely and retried installing. None of these
things have worked. If you have any ideas please let me know.

Thank you

UDMA Controller
If your computer uses a UDMA hard disk controller, use the following
procedures: . Replace the 40-wire cable with an 80-wire UDMA cable.
. In the BIOS settings for your computer, load the 'Fail-Safe' default
settings, and then reactivate the most frequently used options such as USB
Support.
