Doing a clean install of XP home. Disk reformatted with
NTFS. At the first reboot, the message "Error Loading
Operating System" is displayed and nothing further happens.

Any suggestion on how to proceed from here is welcome.

Thx - J

Try running the setup again. It should detect a failed installation and go
from there.

Thanks for the tip but no joy. I ran setup again but it
didn't detect a failed installation. It recognized that
there was an operating system on the disk but deleted all
files and did a reinstall.

Using the recovery console I found the following files at
root of the boot drive:

boot.ini
NTDETECT.com
ntldr
\windows

nothing else.

Is something else need to boot xp?
