Hi, John.

WHY won't it boot off the CD-ROM?

If your computer is new enough to run WinXP, it almost certainly can be set
to boot from CD, but you may need to change a setting in your computer's
BIOS to tell it to do that. The method of changing such settings varies
with computer make and model - and you didn't tell us what kind of computer
you have. Instructions for this are almost always in the owner's manual for
the computer - NOT for Windows. Also, most computers flash information on
the screen for just a few seconds when the power is first turned on. Watch
closely for instructions such as "Press <Del> to enter BIOS", or "Press <F2>
for Setup", or some such language, then quickly press the key indicated. If
you are not quick enough, reboot immediately and try again. You should not
need any diskettes.

If you tell us the make and model of your computer, someone here will
probably recognize it and know the proper key to press to let you set it to
boot from CD.

If the diskettes are asking for SP1 then you downloaded the wrong diskette
set. At present there are four, two for HE and two for Pro, one of the set
is for RTM and the other is for SP1. You have to download the correct
version.
