Need help installing Windows XP to a new drive. My machine will not boot
from the CD. If I boot from a floppy, Setup will not run under DOS. Any
ideas?

Thanx,

Andre

Open the BIOS and adjust your boot options to show the
CD Drive as the first bootable device. Then place your
XP CD in the drive and reboot. You'll see a message to
"press any key" to boot from the CD.

If the above does not work, then you need to download
and create a set of six (6) bootable floppies.

There are two different versions of setup disks for Windows XP.
If you have a Windows XP CD without Service Pack 1, you need to use
the first set listed. If you have a Windows XP CD that includes SP1,
then use the ones listed at the bottom of the page.

Have you went into the BIOS and changed the first boot drive as your CDrom
drive. If the option is not in your BIOS then your machine is not going to
be new enough to install xp on.

Setup will not run under DOS

wrong......

who told you that as I will come over and box his ears.

go over to the i386 folder and run winnt.exe which is the dos installer.
