I have tried to get xp to boot into safe mode and it would not give me the f8
key screen choices for booting.
I inserted the recovery console disk,or xp cd and tried to use the fixmbr
and fix boot files. They seemed to have run correctly, although I did get the
usual caution screen about the mbr was not where it was supposed to be or
what it is was , and if you go further you may loose your partitions and etc.
I proceeded anyway and it finished ,and i tried to exit and restart the f8
screen came up automatically asking if i wanted to boot normal or select the
safe mode etc.
I selected the safe mode, it started loading files and then rebooted again
to the same start up screen asking me which boot selection i wanted.
I ran chkdsk.
It stated there was 1 file that had an error ,i reran chkdsk /r to recover
that file.
I then restarted and the same sequence happend again ,it will not boot into
windows .
It does not display an error of any kind.
I am running 2 SATA drives and 1 ide hardrive,1 dvd/cd drive
I thought there might be virus or some malware ,but after runing fixmbr and
fix boot i figured it should at least start windows , am wrong in thinking
this?
I am on my other pc ,it also has SATA drives as well , should i disconnect
the drive from the other pc and install it in this pc and run a virus check?
Or is there a way to run a virus check from the recovery console?
