for some reason msdos icon dissapeared from my desktop, and internet explorer 6.0 doesn't work right. ie6 won't contact some web sites and if it does you can't use buttons on the site
also i have tried to download ie6 to overwrite the old one and get an error that i need a proxy, even though i am on dsl

Hi,

First go to Windows
Explorer, Tools > Folder options > View tab , tick 'show all hidden
and system files.'

Then go to the folder Windows\Inf, look for the file ' ie' right-click
it and select 'install.' It will ask for your Windows XP CD.
