I just got a new laptop with XP home and IE6. When I click
on an attachment in email (I'm not using outlook) it just
opens by itself, the "Always ask before opening this type
of file" dialog box doesn't pop up. How do I make the
dialog box pop up so I can choose if I want to save it or
open it.

Additional info, maybe helpful, maybe not:

All the XP Professional computers pop up the dialog box
when I click on a text attachment but not a pic attachment

My 2000 PC always pops up the dialog box for all
attachments.

Thanks.

You set this for each file type, e.g. for .zip
Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types
Find the .zip association (may be WinZip File)
Edit, (or click Advanced on ME or XP) and check the "Confirm open
after download" box

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

I do have that checked for jpegs but it still doesn't ask
me if I want to save or open it, it just opens the pic by
itself.
