xp ics client hangs host intermittently

I have a two xp machine wired
network with a dialup connection.
Everything works great except
periodically when the client machine
accesses the internet (could be
an email or web access) the modem stops
transfering data (for both machines)
and I cannot effect a disconnect to
redial. The only solution I've found is
to reboot the host. The problem is
happens maybe once in 20 client accesses.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
 
Problem solved - host machine was running ZoneAlarm
(standard edition, v2.6.362) at medium settings. Once
removed stability returned.
