Hello!
while browsing the web yesterday, I got "zapped" by some unfriendly
scripting. My AVG antivirus caught part of it "in the act", but it still
left some stuff on my computer.
I did get rid of a small file called "i.exe" in the root "c" drive, but it
also infected a JAVA CLASS file in my "documents & settings"\.jpi_cache\"
folder.
The infected class file was this: "VerifierBug.class-559f225b-6603050.class"
According to instructions I gleaned from the internet, I rebooted (xp-pro)
in Safe Mode and manually deleted the file (still in my recycle bin). AVG
wouldn't dispose of it in XP's normal operating mode.
What I'm not sure of at this point is, what more to do besides empty the
recycle bin? Would deleting that file disrupt the Java or Virtual machine
processes that need to run on winXP PRO?
Thanks for any comments or recommendations...
