XP hotfixes

where do they come from? why are they there? and why
won't microslop explain how to get rid of them? my
add/remove file is full of these dang things. some can't
even be found in microslop's listings (q810565, q810577
and q810833 for example) and the ones that are found make
absolutely no sense whatever.

please reply to me by removing what's between the -'s and
removing the -'s themelves (you'd be amazed the number of
folks who leave the -'s in...)

my main concern is when i go to remove these, i get a pop-
up with all kinds of programs (usually games) saying if i
remove the hotfix, these programs may not run properly.
just about all of these hotfixes appeared when i tried to
install and use that call alert system that keeps popping
up in unwanted pop-ups (even tho i am running a pop-up
blocker). any ideas, comments, suggestions appreciated.

You installed them they are the updates from Windows Update.
Microsoft explains about them in detail in the article referenced by
the associated Q number.
Did you look for them in the Knowledge Base and read them?
They are easy to find.

You are free to remove the updates and leave your computer vulnerable.
Hopefully you do not delete other components of the computer simply
because of your own lack of understanding of their purpose.
If you have been indiscriminately deleting unknowns, you may be better
off performing a Clean Installation to fix the damage you may have
done.

Instead of insulting Microsoft and showing your own ignorance, you
could do a little quick research and come up with the correct answers.
