Thanks for the response. On the Host PC I have enabled internet connection sharing by clicking on the internet connection device and enabling sharing. In Network Connections on the Client and on the Host, I have icons for the Host Internet Connection Device indicating connection to the Internet is good from both PCs. But here's a funny thing: when the Host PC is fully operational or switched off, the Client PC cannot access the internet through the Host PC connection, using Internet Explorer or other software. However, when the Host PC is in the process of shutting down, the Client can access the internet through the Host PC with Internet Explorer. This lasts until the Host PC has fully switched off. This baffles me

What do you mean with "can see"? On or host machine you
have to activate the internet connection sharing for the
nic which is in the same subnet as your client machine

I have XP Home on a host PC and XP Professional on a
Client PC. The host can access the internet without
problem. The Host and Client are networked successfully
and can share files, again without problem. The Client
PC can see the internet with a good working connection
enabled through the host PC. However, the Client cannot
access the internet. Running the network wizard stops
the internet connection from the Host PC. I am
baffled ! Anyone help
