It hangs up on the screen that says "Windows is shutting down"

I see occasional tiny blips of the hard drive's write light, several
seconds apart.

But, nothing more happens.

I kill the power after while.

Startup is OK!

I beleve there is a fix fo this at Windows Update. I
can't remeber what it is called but go there and let them
scan your computer and then read the updates that are
avaiable and one should deal with the shutdown issue.

Thanks!

I've been to his page, and tried the download and his process.
However, none of the downloads will actually update my computer when I
go to install them. They say something like: "This is for a system
which does not match your system" or something like that.

What does this mean?

How do I figure this out?

Many thanks for your kind attention,

Alan Moorman
