XP home wont boot up

The screen that shows up after a bad shut down comes up and asks me to
select an option. I have selected all the options (start windows
normally, start windows in safemode, start with command prompt, etc)
and after each one my computer restarts and does the same thing. Ive
put my hard drive in on another computer and seen all the files but
cant get into any of the files in "my documents" (access denied).
Anyone know anything about this?? any info will help thx
 
You will have to "take ownership" of your files to see them
on another computer, XP marks them as private.

If you have a Windows XP Home CD, do a repair install on the
drive in your computer.

Keep the drive in the original computer, put your XP CD in the CD/DVD drive
and boot from the XP CD. Go to the first repair prompt and then ultimately
land at what looks like a DOS prompt. Type fixmbr and hit enter and answer Y
to the question that comes up. Now type fixboot and hit enter then answer Y
to the question that comes up there.

Type exit and allow it to reboot into XP and if it goes back to the prompt
for Safe mode and all others, choose normal and hit enter. It should be OK
at this point if that is all it was.

If that didn't help, ultimately, go back to the XP CD and boot off it and go
past the first repair prompt, F8 the agreement and then come to the point
where you have the choice to put a new XP in or repair your current
installation. Choose to repair and then it goes through like it is
installing new but what it is doing is repairing itself, basically.
Eventually you will be asked for your XP rego which you put in and then when
it finally is finished and reboots, you should have your XP back but will
need to update from Microsoft again.

It will work, then.
