XP Home vpn built in?

Does XP Home have any vpn capability built in?
and if so how do I use it? I would like to be able
to help a friend.

If you just want to help someone then look at using TeamViewer. Its free for
personal use and works very well, IMHO...

Beyond that and to directly answer your question, yes XP Home can act as a
PPTP VPN server. Here are some pages that will help with that...

Alternatively, and a method I use is to setup a Secure Shell (SSH) server.
You can use strong authentication with a private/public key pair.

In both cases, ie. PPTP VPN or SSH, you can run VNC (any flavor) through the
secure tunnel to remotely control your friends desktop.
