I maintain several computers for our small library. All have XP Home. I
am fairly knowledgeable on computers except I don't like to do registry
edits as I am afraid of major damage. I would like to make the limited
accounts for our patrons set up so no software can be installed to the
computer. So far I have found no way to set this up. I have the
password protected admin account.I would like some utility to install
and make the limited accounts so the internet, office etc can be
accessed but no exe files installed by that limited account.

The best way to handle this is with non-native applications. MVP Doug Knox
has a a great utility, his Security Console. MS has the Shared Computer
Toolkit which will also do what you want.
