I bought a copy of XP PRO from a guy that said it had
never been installed on a computer, so I upgraded my XP
home edition with it. Well it turns out that it was
already registered to another machine. Now my time has
run out and I cant reinstall XP Home or even run windows
at all. Any Suggestions?

Thans,
Bruce

You may want to get back to the guy that sold you XP. If you're certain
this is a legitimate copy of XP, get a receipt from him. Then activate
using the phone option with MS.

While he said XP had never been installed, it may have been tried on
another computer and activated. There is no way to de-activate that
install, it simply gets removed. Then the copy of XP, along with its
Product Key, can be sold. If your install and attempt to activate was
within 120 days of the other install and activation, having to call in is
normal and actually a simple process.

If on the other hand, you suspect this is not a legitimate copy of XP, buy
a copy and use the provided product key in that package to install. You can
perform the "repair" install without disturbing your current setup.

Hi, you will need to format your hard drive and install Windows XP Home or
purchase a valid copy of Windows XP Pro.
