I need to install my XP Pro on a laptop that came with Home on it. I've
installed XP a couple of times, but never from Home. I'd like to use the
Transfer Settings wizard and save the results to a CD. Is this possible?
I don't have any other option so sure hope it's possible (no network or
2nd computer available).

Also, any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

You need a new license (Product Key) in order to upgrade
your Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Pro.
Using the "retail, upgrade version of XP Pro, simply select
the default "Upgrade" option during setup.
