Has anyone done the upgrade from home to pro, and if you
have...has it gone smoothly and worked fine since?
Reply to (e-mail address removed). thank you so much.

Yes--the XP home to XP pro upgrade is the easiest and most reliable upgrade
path of all the upgrades because the core files are identical.

Yes. many people have. It's the easiest and most often successful
of all possible upgrades.

Sorry, no. No E-mail support. Ask here, read answers here, where
all can benefit.

What is the difference between XP Home and Pro? Been
using XP Home since beginning of this year and find no
problems, faults, etc., with it and wonder why one would
want to upgrade to Pro. I am just a retiree surfing the
net daily, wordprocessing, spreadsheets, etc.
Thanks

The two versions are identical, when it comes to stability,
functionality, and device driver and software application
compatibility, but are intended to meet different needs, in different
environments. One difference not usually mentioned is that WinXP Pro
allows up to 10 simultaneous inbound network connections, while WinXP
Home only allows a maximum of 5.

The two are actually identical in all respects, except that
Professional has a few features (mostly related to networking and
security) missing from Home. For most (but not all) home users,
these features aren't needed, would never be used, and buying
Professional instead of Home is a waste of money.

Upgrade to Professional only if you need or want one or more of
these features.

Yes, it was a very clean upgrade for me.

Thank you Bruce and Ken for the info and links. I know
that I do not need XP Pro based on your info and the
links that you provided me. Have a nice weekend.

You're welcome. Glad to help.
