XP Home, Slowing down

My system runs progresively slower the longer it is on.
Gets to the piont where sound becomes garbled and
hesitant and the mouse pointer leaps across the screen.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Could be over heating. I believe Pentium will slow itself down when
overheating.
 
Hi,

I am also experiencing a problem as are others (Courtney,
Dick Shrewsbury, Marie, Allen, ogi, Pat Nolan, Dan)

Dick, Allen, and I all get temporarily cured by a restart
of the computer. Do you? This seems to be a common
condition.

We also have the CPU in the 90% range when it is slow.

Look for posts with subjects of
Slow computer
High CPU usage

I feel like its a new, undocumented virus thingy!
