Sorry guys, I missed a bit off the front of the error message on my earlier
posting and have now included it in the revised message below if it makes
anything clearer as to the source of the problem.

Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me resolve an annoying problem.
I have a Dell 8400 running XP home incl. SP2 which was fine on receipt &
initial use but over time after adding two HP printers, a Canon scanner and
software incl. Office XP Pro, MS Works 7, Norton AV, Personal Firewall &
Systemworks, Adobe Photoshop Elements 3, MS digital Image Suite etc. etc. I
keep getting a blue screen on shutting down saying 'a problem has been
detected and windows has shut down'. There is a string of numbers at the
bottom of the message: *** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x804E13D0,
0XAFAD38C8, 0x00000000) and
all I can do is press and hold the power button until the PC switches off.
It can also happen on re-starting.

Any ideas?

Wag
