HI,
I already posted this to one older topic, but since it was somewhat
different a problem, I decided to start a new topic as well.
My Windows XP Home (SP2) gave me a blue screen about a week ago while
I was running more than one programs at a time (can't remember what
though, but not really anything extraordinary) and installing one. The
installation started to install a new version of Java and I think it
was still in that process when this happened. So, my guess is that
this is sw related. Now I can't access Windows in any mode, not Safe
Mode, nothing. I get as far as the WIndows logo screen and after that
it boots again without showing me any STOP message. The boot cycle
just starts over again. So, I don't know the exact stop message either
(if I remember correct the first number ended with 77, but I could be
wrong).
The had disk itself has 2 partitions and I can still use the other
(Linux) and access the windows files (although I still haven't figured
out how to alter or delete them, but I may find a way to do that). So
I assume the device is ok.
Is there a way to repair the computer to the previous state, without
loosing my programs and data? Please help me with this, it seems
nobody knows how to deal with this problem! It's really frustrating!
Of course, the computer originally came with a preinstalled Windows so
I don't even have the installation CDs (however, I have the tag on the
bottom with a code)! Let me know where to ask for help!
