You don't describe the tool bar, but if it's the Common Tasks Bar, to get
rid of it, go to Doug Knox's site, http://www.dougknox.com. On the left,
click Win XP Fixes, then Remove Common Tasks from Desktop.

Acckkk, Gasp, Glurgle, cough, wheeze, you do realize that's a software
application that changes the Registry, don't you? How can you possibly
purport to recommend such a "tool" when a direct edit of the reigistry is
oh, so easy?!
Double standards comes to mind here.

I couldn't disagree more. I never recommend direct edits of the registry
when an easier and safer tool, like Doug's, is available. Registry editing
may be easy for you, but it's *always* a dangerous thing to do. You don't
even get a chance to save or abandon what you do, and any change you make is
immediately saved.

*Anyone*, even the most experienced person, can make a mistake, and if you
make a mistake when editing the registry and don't realize it, it's very
easy to end up with an unbootable computer. If you do, you'll be Acckkking,
Gasping, Glurgling, coughing, and wheezing for real.

This is exactly the reason why TweakUI is such a good tool. It hardly does
anything that can't be done with a direct registry edit, but any time you
can use TweakUI instead of doing it yourself, it's far easier and far safer.
