The XP on my PC has corrupted and crashed the system, so I
am trying to clean install XP to a new HDD which will be
master in my system. I am using a Maxtor 60G HDD and have
512 megs DDR-RAM and the system is designed for XP, butit
wont install. The process gets to the 1st reboot and goes
through the BIOS page to the device listing, then the CDD
starts up, stops, and "press any key to boot from CD..."
comes up at the botom of the screen. If I do nothing the
system hangs very quickly, if I press a key the install
process starts again from the begining, I have disconected
all non-essential peripherals and there dont appear to be
any hardware problems.

Hi, Nuthetes.

Just remove the CD-ROM from the drive before the reboot gets far enough to
look for it, forcing it to reboot from the HD. By this point, WinXP Setup
has copied enough files to the HD and made it bootable.
