XP Home network problem

I have my PC and laptop networked using XP's home network setup utility.
Basically this is so I can work on files on the laptop and watch telly on
the PC! Printers and broadband are also shared.

However while I can open files on the laptop from the PC I can no longer
access any files/drives on the PC via my laptop and I get an error message
saying 'Not enough server storage is available to process this command' -
how did this problem develop and how can I resolve it?

Thanks and credit for the answer to MVP Hans-Georg Michna:

This error indicates that you are falling foul of the IRPStackSize bug.
The problem is on the machine you are attempting to connect to, not the
machine where you see the error message. On the computer you are
attempting to connect to, check the event viewer for an event ID 2011.

Usual fix : You need to fix a parameter called IRPStackSize

On the computer you are attempting to connect to, Set the IRPStackSize
back to the default (15 ). Perform the following steps:

1. Start regedit.
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters.
3. Double-click IRPStackSize (or if this registry setting doesn't
exist, create it with type DWORD and ensure the case is correct).
4. Change the base to decimal, set the value to 15, and click OK.
5. Reboot the computer.

Norton AV is usual suspect for breaking it. There's a KB article about

Just for info... That bug can also produce access permission error messages
when trying to access a share over a lan. Had me fooled for ages at the time
because I was looking for access problems.

With your problem fixed, let's see what some one might do for me with my
simular problem...

I have been communication about setting up my Laptop and Desktop (Win XP
Home Edition) to access the files on either system and be able to print on
the printer attached to my desktop... the problem I am having here sounding
simular to yours, is that if I work on a file on my laptop (ie. Microsoft
Word...) I an select the printer attached to my desktop and print on it, but
if I an connected to the internet through my laptop and try and print
something, it doesn't give me to option to print on the printer attached to
my desktop like Word does, so I tell it to locate the printer (on the
network) and once it finds it, it tells me it has to install a driver for
it, I tell it to do so and get an error message back as follows:

Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience.

Spooler SubSystem App "Report"
szAppName : spoolsv.exe szAppVer : 5.1.2600.2180 szModName : unknown

Any information on this will help, I would like to be able to print what I
see from the web on my laptop like I do if I am on my desktop or like what I
do when I modify a Word Doccument that was stored on either the laptop or
the desktop which I have done with Microsoft Word and Lotus Word Pro 97.
