Network Diagnostics pop ups while the dial up modem is working fine. 56K.

Why?

A network card is disabled.

I'm tired of the program. My other computer with XP Home doesn't have the
program at all. Did it come through updates? I don't want it to pop up if
there isn't any connection error.

I should say this computer with the Network Diagnostics error had ADware
virus problems. nCase, shopathome, sentry.exe, The Best Offers and the worst
Adware Think-adz. The Windows Virus tool didn't wipe those virus at all.

It was a hunt and find, deleting files in registry, msconfig, add and remove
programs, in Windows/System32 and Program Files.

Firefox browser has errors when closing. Explorer 7 works fine but was most
affected by the popunders.

Updated Java and Adobe Reader 8, those are supposed to better help Firefox
to work.

Also I'm getting Work Offline popups for no reason, when the modem is
connected or not. Idle before the screen saver comes on, the Work Offline
popup happens. I shut down Messenger in Services and somewhere in registry
stopped balloon popups to occur.

Computer with 512 memory, 90 GB space available. 2.4 Pentium

XP has been updated, Service Pak 2 and continues to be.

As I'm connected right now Network Diagnostics popped up.

Last diagnostic run time: 08/29/07 15:39:21 HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity

info HTTP: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
info HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
info FTP (Passive): Successfully connected to ftp.microsoft.com.

I want to delete the Network Diagnostics its popping up this way for no
reason!

Your symptoms are of a corrupt LSP / Winsock layer, which is normal when
recovering from malware infestation.

But, if you are just recovering from a malware infestation, and you had to
manually remove the malware, you probably should let some experts advise you.
Malware is very sophisticated, and some requires intense technique. At the very
least, finish with HijackThis and expert advice.
