XP Home: installing fax for cable hookup?

Is it possible to install the WinXP fax so that it runs on a cable hookup?
Is there a service that acts as a proxy number?

The modem wizard does not recognize the cable modem as a modem, and of
course there is no phone number . . . .
 
In order to use FAX, you'll need a conventional telephone modem
with a telephone line connected to it. You cannot use a cable
modem with Fax since it does not connect to a telephone line.

But you can use an internet faxing service, for a price.
