I'm trying to do a repair installation of XP Home.
It gets as far as 39 minutes remaining and will not go any further.
All pci cards have been removed- same results.
Installed just 1 stick of memory - same results.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Ron

May have nothing to do with it, but in similar situations in the past,
ejecting then re-inserting the cd at that stage has helped (probably
indicative of either a dirty/scratched cd, or failing cd drive).

You say you've removed the PCI cards etc, but how about all peripheral
hardware - printers, external drives, etc the only peripherals you'll need
are the keyboard & mouse. Then, if this solves the problem you'd reattach
each other peripheral one at a time, reinstalling the driver disks etc as
you go.

If it doesn't solve the problem, I'm out of suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions - It turns out there was a virus on the hard
drive.
I removed the hard drive, installed it in my machine as a slave drive,
scanned it with Avast. There was a trojan virus on it. Had avast clean it.
Re-installed it in the original machine and did the Repair install with no
problems.

thanks all !
