Could someone please let me know the right way to install
Microsoft Professional. Do I set a system restore and
then install? I appreciate all the info I can get.
Thanks in advance!!

Greetings --

You should just start the Upgrade Install from within Windows XP Home.
Always make sure you have important data to you backed up before any major
system change.

Susan,

Follow Chris' directions to do the upgrade.

However, do you REALLY need WinXP Pro?? The only differences in WinXP Home
and Pro (other than cost) are related to some networking and security
features that are used in larger networks. Every utility that comes with
WinXP Pro is in WinXP Home, so you really need to analyze your needs before
plunking down another $150-200.

Susan,

The information you have been given in this thread is correct. It sounds
like Windows XP Home Edition will suit your needs and you then need to
purchase Office XP Professsional if you need programs like Excel, Acess,
Word, and Powerpoint.

If your computer is not joining a domain you do not need to upgrade to
Windows XP Professional.

Sincerely,
Jeff Wade [MS]
