Hi,

Anyone help me? When running games system will restart
for no reason. Can reproduce fault running DXDIAG but
erratic at which point it restarts. Is this a DirectX
issue or a hardware issue? Have installed latest version
of DirectX (9.0b) and updated ATI Radeon 9800 display
driver.

Many thanks for any pointers.

The first tthing you need to do to troubleshoot this is turn off the
automatically option. Control Panel/System/Advanced tab/Startup and
Recovery, click the Settings Button. In the System Failure section, remove
the check mark from Automatically Restart. This will allow the system to
display the error message when a fatal error occurs.

Next, go to Start/Run and type: eventvwr.msc and press OK. Click on
Applications and look for any X error messages that correspond to the time
of the last failure. Double click the error to see the details. In the
details window, there is a small icon on the right that you can click to
copy the error details. Paste these back in a reply to this thread.
